Cake Cutting and Serving

How do I determine what size cake you need?

For cake cutting and serving I use the standard Wilton cake data chart.

http://www.wilton.com/cakes/making-cakes/baking-serving-guide.cfm

An example of how to determine cake size/serving size and pricing:

(These prices are just for illustration)
12" square cake, cut in 1x2x4 is cut in 12 rows by 6 columns = 72 pieces.
1x2x4 - 8 cubic inches
72 pcs x $3.00/serving = $216 ( eg : wedding cake servings)

12" square cake, cut in 1.5x2x4 is cut in 8 rows by 6 columns = 48 pieces.
1.5x2x4 = 12 cubic inches = 50% more cake per serving.
$3 x 1.5 = $4.50/serving for the larger serving.
48 pcs x $4.50/serving = $216  (eg : Birthday party servings)

Cake cutting and serving at events/parties

I have attached a link for Wilton's Cutting and serving guide.

Is there a charge to cut and plate your cake at your event?

Yes. I charge as little as  $20.00/hr with a 4 hour minimum, and no more than $100.00/event.(This does not include plates and forks, so please have them on the table for me.) Most venues charge by serving and not hourly- be sure to check with your event coordinator for the better deal.

Do you need to hire me to cut and plate your cake?

Certainly not! You should always check with your venue first or even a friend might be willing to do it. Most venues charge a "cake service fee" which includes plates and forks. If your venue charges too much to have this service for your budget, and you decide to have me or a friend cut and serve your cake, be sure to ask if the venue will still supply the plates and utensils ** you may have to supply your own if you opt out on their service.

Budget friendly- have an awesome friend cut your cake and use fun paper/plastic plates and utensils. Don't stress out on the little details ! You can easily print out a cutting guide from the link above or Google a  different one of your liking.

 Delivery, Setup and Equipment :

Pricing on delivery and setup depends on the location of the event. All wedding cakes are delivery only.
I will deliver to any area under 25miles for  $25.00 fee.
Anything over an 25miles of transport will have additional cost - $1.25/mile.

If you decide to pick up your cake, you will be liable for any damages to cake once it leaves the bakeshoppe. No returns will be given for damaged desserts.

Tips for traveling with your cake/desserts:
Its best not to try and hold your cake, but to set it on a flat surface!.No slip rolls from the dollar store work great for under your cake!
